Lee Wheeler

- F650 Ride the World

Lee wheeler Lee Wheeler has a dream, that dream is a world trip that will encompass some 30 countries covering 150,000 miles through the roughest terrain known to man on his BMW Dakar F650GS motorcycle.

Starting out in England, Lee is heading off through Europe and Russia over to Africa down the west coast to reach Cape Town then up the east cost to reach the Congo. A ferry to South America where he then plans to work his way up to Alaska, from Alaska he intends to fly to Russia and then ride east until eventually arriving home back in England sometime in 2009.

We were so impressed with Lee's ambitious expedition we agreed to sponsor him with some of our products.

6 Months down the line we caught up with Lee to see how things were going:

6 months have passed since my visit to Farnham and I've covered some 8,000 miles mostly around the fun parts of Europe and it's time to lay it on the line. I can say with complete honesty that whilst I've been using the Pure Hydration products I've not had one bad day due to stomach upsets, I've filled my bottles at in rest rooms from standing taps on the motorways, whilst in the beautiful mountains of France and Italy I've collected water from rivers and streams, and from the feet washing taps whilst camping out on the beaches I'm not proud.
The one time I did have problems was in a restaurant in Southern France, when the waiter gave me the most filthy look when I poured the water from the jug sitting on the table into my Traveller before I shook it up and drank from it. I got a nice English speaking lady to translate that I didn't trust the water in the jug but that my bottle would clean it for me so there wasn't a problem, I still got a dirty look but trusting the water is more important to me at the end of the day then the respect of a single French waiter.

The Aquasak really has never left my side on any of the trip, if it wasn't in its nice Camo covering then it was in my North Face day sack or in my tank bag, it's really the most handy solution there is when you're thirsty and need that drink now.

The
Aquapure Traveller
has mostly been used whilst staying in Hotels and at meal times around the camp, even a complete barbarian like myself doesn't drink from an Aquasak at meal times, it really helps to keep out the dust and bugs that would otherwise be floating in my open Crusader Cup.

The
Thirst Aid Bag
has been used mostly for collecting water from the many running streams whilst I was camping in the mountains, it's really the easiest product for filling up pots pans and cups from, it also doubles as my kitchen sink when it comes time to wash the dishes.

Conclusion:

Well as you can guess I
love having faith in the products that I use day in day out, and having clean water on my trip no matter where I am and no matter what time of day, not only means a happy Lee it means a fit and active Lee.
My top pick if I had to chose just one of the above products would be the Aquasak with it's
amazing inline filter, filling it up is a breeze due to its huge opening and forgetting that it's working so hard to make my water clean means it's just so easy to get on with.
