Steve Guy, well known wanderer of wild places, is going back to the Desert in October this year for a couple of months in the Sahara following the tracks of the Long Range Desert Group from World War II.
The trip, in a highly converted and re built Land Rover built by Steve and his travelling partner Simon Nichols, takes them both well away from the beaten track and is heavily reliant on water from local wells and Oases. Steve reckons that "In the extreme temperatures of both the Desert and the Jungle each person needs about 10 litres of clean drinking water every day and this all must be both filtered and purified."
Getting sufficient clean water, from whatever source, is key to the success of the trip and the safe return of both Steve and Simon. |
