| World Bog Snorkelling Championships
Pull on your mask, snorkel and fins and leap into the breach for the World Bog Snorkelling Championships. Your task: to complete two lengths of the specially cut, 60-metre Waen Rhydd Bog on the outskirts of Britain's smallest town, Llanwrtyd Wells.
There is a bizarre art to bog snorkelling; one that involves being able to glide through the thick peat waters without either displaying any recognisable swimming strokes or swallowing any of the foul smelling (and tasting) bog water. Wet suits are optional but advisable and speed is of the essence.
The championships were the brainchild of a particularly drunken session in the local pub back in 1986 as a clever fundraising initiative. All proceeds from this sporting event are donated to charities and good causes in the region.
