I have now used Aquapure Traveller all over the world, and has proved to be one of the wisest things that I bought for my extended trip. Not only has the bottle never caused me any illness, never I had to worry about my water source, whether it be tap water in India, or stream water in Russia.
During my time in Europe the system served a slightly different function, in that while the water there is relatively safe, I didn't dare risk drinking straight out of the tap. Every morning I would fill my Aquapure Traveller with tap water from the hostel, and refill it during the day from taps, and water sources in the street.
During this time my friends would have to buy bottles of mineral water. The Aquapure Traveller system allowed me to travel in Europe, without having to worry about cost of water - which can amount to a small fortune, over the entire course of my trip I can't imagine how much I would have spent without it. Not only has it helped this traveller control his budget, there has been an additional environmental benefit.
The number of plastic bottles that I have had to discard whilst on my trip has been minimal, this is especially good in countries where there economy, and government, are unable to set up recycling plants.
And yet there are more benefits to this system that I never thought of prior to being away. During the course of my trip I have been trekking all over the world (China, Tibet, Nepal, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia), as well as horse riding in Mongolia for two weeks. During all of these times I have carried my water bottle, which I have filled from any available source, never with any problems.
Always safe in the knowledge that my water is safe. During these forays into the countryside I have only had to carry only my water bottle, whilst my companions have been weighed down with litres and litres of mineral water.
The only time I have ever had a problem was in the rainforest of Malaysia, where for a couple of hours was unable to locate a water source! My friend had run out of water earlier in the day, and was eternally grateful when we stumbled across a river and I could hand him clean water.
As I have travelled several people have taken an interest in my bottle, many at first not believing that it could actually work, and though me foolish for placing absolute trust in it. Over the course of a couple of days, when they saw that I hadn't gotten ill, they soon changed their tune, and many have told me that Aquapure Traveller will be at the top of their Christmas/birthday wish list.
